Demat account referrals

Ethical rules every demat referral partner should follow

A clear code of conduct for demat referral partners: consent, privacy, honesty and no shortcuts. Following it protects customers and your earnings.

Referral earning works because companies trust partners to bring genuine customers. A few shortcuts can break that trust quickly, for you and for everyone else. Here is a simple code of conduct to follow.

1. The customer applies themselves

The customer must fill their own application on the official page, with their own documents, phone and email. You can guide them, but you never type their details, upload their documents or complete steps on their behalf.

2. Never ask for OTPs or passwords

OTPs and passwords are proof of consent and identity. Asking for them is a serious red flag, even with good intentions. If a customer offers, refuse politely.

3. Never use your own details for a customer

Using your mobile number, email or bank account in someone else's application is not allowed. It can get the application rejected and may be treated as fraud.

4. Never pay for the customer

Do not add money to a customer's account or pay their charges to meet a campaign condition. It distorts results and violates campaign rules.

5. Never trade for the customer

Placing trades on someone's account, even with permission, is not allowed for referral partners. The customer decides and acts.

6. Be honest about conditions

If the campaign pays only after a first trade, explain it. If the account has yearly charges, mention them. No hidden surprises.

7. Don't promise returns

Avoid any statement that suggests assured profits. Talk about risk openly.

8. Respect privacy

Don't collect copies of PAN, Aadhaar, bank statements or selfies. Don't share customers' details with others. Keep conversations private.

9. No spam

Don't add people to groups without consent, don't mass-message strangers and don't post links where they aren't welcome.

10. Don't create fake or duplicate leads

Submitting leads for yourself, for fake people or for existing customers is fraud. Platforms detect patterns such as many accounts from one device or one network. It leads to rejection and suspension.

Why these rules protect your income

Campaigns are paid by companies that check lead quality. When a partner's leads are genuine, approvals are high and campaigns stay available. When fraud appears, companies tighten rules or stop campaigns, which hurts every honest partner. Your honesty protects the whole system that pays you.

What to do if you see misconduct

If you notice someone in your team or network breaking these rules, don't copy them. If it involves your platform, report it through official support. Protecting customers is everyone's responsibility.

A quick self-check before each referral

  • Does this person genuinely want the product?
  • Did I explain conditions and charges?
  • Will they apply on their own?
  • Did I avoid collecting any personal documents or codes?

If all are yes, you are doing it right.

Key points to remember

  • Guide, don't operate: the customer does every step.
  • OTPs, passwords and documents never come to you.
  • Never pay or trade for a customer.
  • Honesty about conditions and risks is mandatory.
  • Genuine leads keep campaigns alive for everyone.

Summary

Ethics are not just "nice to have" in referral work. They are what make it sustainable. Partners who follow these rules enjoy higher approval rates, fewer disputes and long-term trust. Read our safety and fraud awareness guides for more.

How platforms detect bad practice

Companies and platforms look for unusual patterns: many applications from the same device or network, the same phone number or email used for different people, accounts that never become active, or leads clustered at odd hours. These signals usually lead to rejections and reviews. The simplest way to never worry about them is to follow the rules above every single time.

Frequently asked questions

Can I fill the form if the customer is sitting next to me?

You can guide them, but they should enter their own details and OTPs on their own device.

Is it okay to refer my own second account?

No. Self-referrals and duplicate accounts are not genuine leads and are not allowed.
